présenté en première mondiale au Festival de Venise


Montréal, le vendredi 24 juillet 2015 – Possibles Média et Freshwater Pictures sont heureux d'annoncer la sélection du film Early Winter du cinéaste Michael Rowe à la 72e Mostra de Venise dans la section Giornate degli Autori (Venice Days). Le film y sera présenté en première mondiale. Le festival se tiendra du 2 au 12 septembre prochain.

David, la quarantaine, mène une existence routinière avec sa femme Maya et leurs deux enfants. Pour combler son épouse des derniers gadgets, il travaille seul jour et nuit comme concierge dans une maison de retraite, ne tenant le coup qu'à renfort de comprimés. Mais quand il commence à soupçonner que Maya le trompe, c'est toute son existence qui vacille, le passé menaçant de tout emporter sur son passage.

Récipiendaire de la Caméra d'or à Cannes en 2010 pour son film Año Bisiesto, le réalisateur australien, mexicain d'adoption, Michael Rowe, signe avec Early Winter son troisième long métrage, entièrement tourné au Québec et mettant en vedette Suzanne Clément (Mommy, Laurence
Anyways) et Paul Doucet (La garde, Funkytown).

Compagnie de production montréalaise fondée par Serge Noel, Possibles Média a déjà quelques longs métrages à son actif dont Nuages sur la Ville de Simon Galiéro qui remportait le Prix Focus du meilleur long métrage canadien au Festival du nouveau cinéma en 2009, et Fatima de Philippe Faucon présenté à la Quinzaine des réalisateurs en mai dernier au Festival de Cannes.

Produit par Possibles Média et Fresh Water Pictures grâce à la participation financière de la Sodec, de Téléfilm Canada, du Crédit d'impôt du Québec et du Crédit d'impôt du Canada, Early Winter prendra l'affiche à l'automne 2015. Le film est distribué au Québec par Filmoption International, au Canada par Mongrel Media. Les ventes internationales sont assurées par la société française Pyramide Films.

to have its World premiere in Venice



Montréal, Friday 25th 2015 – Possibles Média and Freshwater Pictures are happy to announce the selection of Michael Rowe's film Early Winter at the 72th Mostra in Venezia within the Giornate degli Autori (Venice Days). This will be the film’s World Premiere. The festivals will be held this year from September 2nd to 12th. 

David, a man in his forties, lives a predictable life with his wife Maya and their two children. To please his wife with latest gadgets, he works solitary shift work, days and nights, as janitor in a retirement home, keeping control of his life by taking painkillers. But when he begins to suspect that Maya is having an affair, he starts to lose ground, his past threatening to smash everything in his path.

Winner of the Golden Camera in 2010 at Cannes, for his first film Año Bisiesto, the Australian born Mexican resident Michael Rowe, signs with Early Winter a third feature, that was entirely shot in Canada and stars Suzanne Clément (Mommy, Laurence Anyways) and Paul Doucet (Funkytown).

A Montreal company funded in 2008 by Serge Noël, Possibles Média has several features to its name including Clouds over the City, that won the Prix Focus given to the best Canadian feature in the 2009 edition of the Festival du Nouveau Cinéma, followed recently by Philippe Faucon's Fatima presented at the  Director's Fortnight, last may in Cannes.

Produced by Possibles Média and FreshWater Pictures, with financial support from Sodec, Téléfilm Canada, Screen Australia and Screen Queensland, Québec's tax Credit and Canada's tax Credit, Early Winter is set for release this fall. Rye feature is distributed in Québec by Filmoption International, and in Canada by Mongrel Media. International sales are made by Pyramide International.
